It’s been a busy week for SADA!

Monday, we tabled at Campus Fusion’s Kick-Off Rally to start off a week-long celebration of UT’s diversity. Their last event is tomorrow night — don’t miss it! [http://www.utexas.edu/diversity/campusfusion/indexmain.html]

We distributed ASL/Deafness handouts and event flyers and even took a shot at the open mic to tell UT about who we are and what we do.

Many thanks to all the SADA members who helped table, everyone who paid us a visit and those who gave us a chance and signed up for our listserv.

We’re especially pleased that it didn’t rain as some had feared…

Tuesday night was a screening of “Through Deaf Eyes” by UT Services for Students With Disabilities. The film proved to be an excellent educational tool for those of us who didn’t know too much about Deaf history, culture and issues. And by educational, we do not mean boring. The movie was also funny and witty, drawing laughter from everyone who was there.

The discussion afterwards was energetic as several people had their questions answered about several topics, from the difference between ASL and Signed Exact English to what it’s like being a Deaf student at UT.

Again, thanks to everyone who came out with open minds, ready to learn.
